Helene Hørlyck about her ambassador role
”At Gadens Børn, I feel that I can make a difference, and that it makes sense and gives results. The honesty and help in full they render, touches me deeply and I feel, that this project feels right for me, at the same time it makes sense for me as a singer.
If my singing voice and music can help children in one of the most vulnerable places in the world, it will give my musical journey a dimension in accordance with my dream - to lift and spread happiness. Not just for my audience, but also for human beings in generel through my voice.
When I met Pia the first time, her human resonance, her care for the children and her unfiltered access to things, caught my immediate attention and bear vitness of an honesty that I really appreciate.
India became the start of my life, but also a country that has left lifelong traces for all my family with its culture, which has been very giving. My grandparents made duty as missionaries in a small South Indian village, where they lived and build a family. Out here in a small Danish school my parents met each other as children. They later married and had 3 girls, where I am the youngest. Later we returned to Denmark, but our preference for this country, makes us often travel to India and we have maintained a lot of Indian traditions. For instance, we celebrate Christmas with rice, curry and Indian specialities.
It means a lot to me, to make an effort, in a place in the world that means so much to me, and for something that lies so close to my heart - childrens living conditions. A synergy and complete circle - that is my feeling.
I hope to get the opportunity to engage myself in “the eye of the hurricane” - by making an effort i the streets of Kolkata, where the difference can be felt on your body and soul.”
